Email Blasts Or Direct Mail???

Published by Jordan under Uncategorized

I came across and interesting article in the September 10th edition of DM(Direct Marketing)News by Craig Blake, who is the president of the New England Direct Marketing Association.  The article is based on a survey that was carried out by International Communications Research which showed that consumers by a very wide margin, prefer postal mail to email for receiving offers and information about new products.   It showed that 73% preferred postal mail to email.  Even-though the survey was commissioned by Pitney Bowes, the company, that carried out the survey,  is a very reputable independent firm.  The survey goes on to say that consumers are less likely to discard unopened mail ,31 percent, as opposed to 53.2 percent that discard unopened unsolicited emails.  Blake goes on to say that while mail is the preferred vehicle for reaching consumers, businesses need to remember that it is critical to target consumers with relevant messages at appropriate times to get a meaningful return on investment.

I could not agree more with the survey findings.  I know personally i delete any unsolicited email, but usually open all the mail….who knows maybe there might be a check or a winning sweepstakes number in one of the envelopes.  Hoping this shes some light on this very relevant topic.

Published by Jordan under Uncategorized

The holidays usher in a flurry of activity across the country - we shop, decorate, stock inventory and most of all, we spend money during this busy season. To give you an idea of what the nation and Orlando will be up to, we rounded up some statistics for the coming months.

·      The average anticipated spending for holiday gifts is up 17% to $1,200.

·      38% are expected to start holiday shopping in October and 22% to start on or around November 1.

·      Even the early birds will be shopping down to the wire - 70% of shoppers expect to still be shopping for gifts within 5 days of the holiday.

·      56% expect to receive their preferred gift.

·      Electronics are again the popular holiday “Must-Have”.

·      Typical number of gifts purchased - 14.

·      Those who decorate for the holidays will spend an average of $106 with the bulk being purchased in October and November.

Does Your Advertising Work?

Published by Jordan under Uncategorized

The keys to effective advertising design is to offer some ideas on effective advertising offers. No matter how well designed your ad is, if it does not offer something that the customer needs or wants, they won’t respond.

1.    Is your offer specific? The customer must know at first glance exactly what you are offering.

2.    Use words that motivate. Try to include one of more of these proven winners: free, save, discover, rewards, amazing, protect, win, and improved..

3.    Provide a real incentive. To be successful your offer must be perceived as valuable.

4.    Make your offer unique. Make the offer something that they can only get from you.

5.    Is your offer useful or valuable? Make sure your offer helps save money, time, or offers an improvement.

6.    Is the offer easy to acquire? Where will they find your offer? Make it easy for them to find and to use.

7.    Test your offers. Try several different offers and track the results. It is the only way you will know which offer is best. Then stick with the one that works.

These interesting points will help your busines, whether it is retail, restaurant, service provider, or professional service increase your custome base.
